Ecotourism goes beyond simple enjoyment of nature. It includes learning about and conserving our environment. Here are places to sty where ecoeducation is part of the experience.
Cacapon State Park. A 6115-acre mountain ecosystem with 20 miles of blazed hiking trails through forested mountains and two lakes. Naturalist programs daily in summer. A volunteer-built Nature Center has exhibits and educations activities on the geology, flora, and fauna of the area. Local sandstone boulders and blocks are used in buildings, walls and gateposts, many built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. Rustic cabins and lodge. (304) 258-1022.

Cabin by O'Briens. Guided walk on year-round wildlife identification, pond ecology, and organic gardening. Two cabins on an 80-acre forest preserve, pristine pond for swimming and organic garden for snacking. Bath house with composting toilet. (304) 754-8128 or 1-888-495-5755.
